Kicking off the second semester

Writer: abdelkader6abdelkader6

Heey again. To whoever reading this I hope you had a productive day.

So I am back here in San Francisco and honestly I missed the place aka I missed being sick all the time because of Sf weather. And trust me the moment I got out of the plane I felt that I had a cold and I fucking had it for real. Talking about planes. My trip back here was pretty tiring and energy-consuming.

The itinerary was Tunis-Morocco, Morocco-New York, New York-San Francisco. Honestly, I was pretty impressed with Royal Air Maroc’s service. The plane was on time and the aircrew were pretty friendly. A pro tip if you are traveling a 3-4 hours flight with Royal Air Maroc you better download their app “Sky Ram Player” to enjoy their entertainment program otherwise you will just sit listening to your music just like what happened to me, unless you have an android. On the other hand, I waited for the last minute to check-in online and fortunately the plane was not fully booked which means that the flight was extra comfortable cause I had all three seats for myself.

Talking about tips. I just remembered to tell you what freaking happened to me on my way. So, I was at SFO ready to go back to Tunisia. I was in line to get my boarding pass and get on the plane, then the woman at the counter told me that I cannot go because I have two stops in Europe (Munich and Frankfurt) and I do not have a Schengen Visa. What the heck are these rules? I was legit shocked when she told me that and I called Lufthansa to find a solution. Thank god they found me an itinerary the next day that had only one stop in Munich, but I had to pay an extra 200$ for a flight that already costs around 1000$. The lesson of the day kids, do not have more than one stop in Europe if you do not have a Schengen visa.

Moving on. When I came back to Sf. We had our friend’s birthday the day after. So, we went to a very cool Karaoke Japanese place here and of course I was so tired and jetlagged that I slept in the room while they were singing. Ella, I know your are reading this and darling I still have nightmares of your terrible voice #exposed and Rafa, happy birthday again dear.

To kick off the second semester, our university programmed for us a weekend we call ELEVATION where we have a different range of activities from workshops and meetings to a hike. Yes, you read it right. I had to hike while I had a cold. Not a very intelligent decision I know but it was pretty fun. We had to meet at Ocean Beach aka Malibu with our legacies and find the clues to end up in the right final destination all walking. We had to walk through mud, go to Baker beach and end up at Palace of Fine Arts aka the utopian part of Sf. But overall it was good and we had fun. Labyrinth forever.

The first week of classes was pretty good. I try to wake up early in the morning to do my readings, have breakfast and go to cafes to take classes from. So far, pretty productive.

We had CIVITAS two days ago. For those who don’t know CIVITAS. It is a networking event by our university, where we get introduced to professionals in different fields of experties and depending on our interests we get to ask them questions to gain more insight into the field. The event was good, we mingled with others, tried to connect with them and learned more about their professional lives.

Isn't she the cutest?

On this note, I gotta go start some readings and work on some stuff. Until next time dear.

With love,

Abdel.

We deserve a 5 on #emergentproperties
